- Cover photo description:
- the bug is an extraordinary river. in the interwar period, the bug was included in further development plans for the vistula basin. after the war, it became a border river and for a long time it was not included in the development plans, both from the polish side and from the side of the soviet union. this neglect caused the bug to remain a wild and unregulated river - long coastal sections uncivilized by human hand, numerous oxbow lakes and riverside riparian forests became a refuge for birds and other animals. it is one of the last wild rivers in europe. due to the natural and landscape values, the middle valley and the lower bug valley have been included in the european natura 2000 network. in the podolia upland (ukraine), the river was initially treated as a right tributary of the vistula, from 1962 it was considered a tributary of the narew. the source of the river is in verkhobuzh near Zloczow in ukraine. the length of 772 km (including 224 km in poland) connects with the narew near serock. the area of the river basin is 39,420 km2. the river flows through western ukraine, southwestern belarus and eastern poland.
