- Karel Albert Rudolf Bosscha (15 May 1865 - 26 November 1928) was a Dutchman of German descent who cared about the welfare of the indigenous people of the Dutch East Indies at that time and was also an observer of education, especially astronomy.In August 1896, Bosscha founded the Malabar Tea Plantation. And in the following years, he became master of all tea plantations in Pangalengan District. During his 32 year tenure at this tea plantation, he has established two tea factories, namely the Malabar Tea Factory which is currently known as the Gelora Dinamika Sports Building and also the Tanara Tea Factory which is currently known as the Malabar Tea Factory.
