Among the heads of angels traditionally depicted with curly curls, there are two completely bald heads. According to the legend, when the monument was almost ready, the Urban master left the last heads to be carved by his student Gotfryd. The latter, enjoying the recent birth of his son and taking advantage of the sculptor's absence, decided to carve his offspring's head. The next day the master came to check the task and saw among the curly-haired angels one head of a completely bald child. In anger, he fired his assistant. The unfortunate man returned home and told his wife everything. The latter, angered by her husband's reckless action, decided to correct his mistake herself and ask the master for forgiveness. The sculptor did not want to talk to her, but when he saw the little boy and his smiling and trusting face, he was moved and then took Gotfryd back to work. In order to keep the proportions in the sculpture, he ordered an equally bald head of a second angel to be placed on the other side.
