- Photo title: The Forum of Nerva in Rome, Italy: view of the \"Colonnacce\".
- Author: Vololibero
- Cover photo description:
- View of only surviving section of the ancient perimeter wall of the Forum, built in blocks of tuff. Still intact after more than nineteen centuries, two of the more than fifty projecting columns that decorated the long sides of the square lean against it: the so-called "Colonnacce", so called due to their state of ruin. The entablature superimposed on the Colonnacce bears a sculpted frieze, in which sixty-one figures can be distinguished divided into eight scenes, depicting mythological episodes centered on the goddess Minerva.
