- Photo title: Coltesti fortress built in 13th century on a rocky height in Transylvania Romania, Europe
- Author: Rechitansorin
- Cover photo description:
- Trascaului Citadel (in the second half of the 20th century also called Coltesti Citadel, in Hungarian Torockovar), located west of the village of Coltesti (in Hungarian Torockoszentgyorgy, and about 5 km southwest of Rimetea commune (in Hungarian Torocko, in German Eisenburg), Alba county, was built around 1296 by the vice-voivode Thorotzkay of Trascau, as a habitable fortress and refuge. It was deliberately erected on the steep top of a limestone klippe, following the Tatar (Mongol) invasion since 1241, when significant damage was caused to the towns of Trascau and Sangiorgiu. It was destroyed in 1703 by the Austrian imperial troops and today a good part of the walls of the enclosure and the two side towers are still preserved. The fortress is listed on the list of historical monuments from Alba county.
