- Photo title: Remains of Canyon Diablo Ghost Town near Winslow, Arizona
- Author: Swdesertlover
- Cover photo description:
- The tiny town of Canyon Diablo (Devil's Canyon) sprung up to serve the needs of the men building the railroad bridge across the canyon. The hastily built town included brothels, gambling dens and saloons that seemed to satisfy the bulk of the consumer demands. Open 24 hours and with no lawmen to regulate or intervene, the town was a dark and dangerous place, often said to have been worse than Tombstone or Dodge City, and its main street was christened “Hell Street.”
