  • Singapore has a very well-developed public transport network, in the form of rapid metro (MRT), light rail (LRT) and buses. The metro is the cheapest way to get around the city - a single ride usually costs around SGD 1.50. You can buy single-use tickets, but you can also buy an EZ-Link card, which costs about SGD 12, of which SGD 5 is a non-refundable deposit and SGD 7 can be used for travel. It is tapped against the reader at each exit and entry, and then the appropriate amount is taken from the card. You can then top up the card with any amount and it is non-refundable. The metro runs quite frequently, has many lines and stations, so we can get virtually anywhere. If we do not want to travel by subway, we can use taxis, which are relatively cheap and popular in Singapore. A better way may be Uber, an unofficial "taxi" from the application, which is much cheaper than normal taxis - we will pay on average from 1 3 to half less. Ubers are also a popular means of transport in Singapore and are highly available, even at night.
