  • Machapuchare ('Fishtail') is a mountain situated in the Annapurna massif, which forms the eastern boundary of the Annapurna Sanctuary in north-central Nepal. Its double summit resembles the tail of a fish. Also nicknamed the 'Matterhorn of Nepal', the peak of Machapuchare is believed to be the home of Shiva and is a sacred peak for the Gurungs and the people of Chomrong, and has never been officially climbed.
