  • Cover photo description:
  • Erhu, also known as huqin, is a bowed string instrument with two strings. Modern erhu is tuned in a pure fifth, and belongs to the middle-high register of the huqin. Different shapes of bowed string instruments have been developed independently in different places according to the needs, such as gaohu, jinghu, banhu, erxian, and labaxian. In order to meet the needs of Chinese symphony, another type of instrument, zhonghu, was also invented based on the style of erhu.
