  • Der Kölner Dom St. Peter und St. Maria gilt als eines der bedeutendsten Bauwerke Deutschlands. Seit 1996 ist die gotische Kathedrale auf der Liste des UNESCO Weltkulturerbes aufgeführt.Der Kölner Dom entstand nach nordfranzösischem Muster mit der hochgotischen Kathedrale von Amiens (ab 1220) als Vorbild. Die heutige Architektur des Domes entspricht größtenteils den mittelalterlichen Plänen des ersten Dombaumeisters Gerhard (1248 bis vor 1270 tätig), jedoch sind einige Bauabschnitte in neogotischen Formen ausgeführt.
