- Cover photo description:
- Modak is an Indian sweet dumpling dish popular in many Indian states and cultures. It is believed to have originated in the state of Maharashtra 123. According to Hindu and Buddhist beliefs, it is one of the favorite dishes of Lord Ganesha and the Buddha and is therefore used in prayers 142. The sweet filling inside a modak consists of freshly grated coconut and jaggery, while the outer soft shell is made from rice flour or wheat flour mixed with khowa or maida flour 12. There are two distinct varieties of Modakam, fried and steamed. The steamed version (called Uk Adiche Modak am) is often served hot with ghee. One of the best food in the world.
