  • Author: Yanisgw
  • Cover photo description:
  • The Pregolya is the longest river flowing entirely within the borders of the Kaliningrad Region. Pregolya originates from the confluence of the Instrumentcha and Angrapa, in the area of the city of Chernyakhovsk. The width of the Pregola in Chernyakhovsk is 20 meters, in Kaliningrad — 80 meters. The depth is from 2-3 meters in the upper reaches and up to 8-16 meters in the lower. Beyond the Guards, in the area of the village of Ozerki, the Pregolya is divided into two parallel channels, the New Pregolya (northern channel) and the Old Pregolya (southern channel). In many places, these channels are connected by channels, and thus a large number of islands are formed. The last island in front of the mouth is Kneiphof (Kant Island) in Kaliningrad, behind it the Old and New Pregoli join into a single channel.
