- This fortress, from the 10th century, adapts to the territory, being located in an elevated area from where the Sil Valley is controlled.Like Ponferrada, Cornatel castle belonged to the Templar order and, later, became the property of the Count of Lemos. The main access to the castle is along the westernmost body in a route between the walls and the impressive precipice that opens at the foot of the castle. The route is covered by two shooting openings as you turn.
