  • Nowa Ruda's market square is the most representative part of the city. It was laid out on a rectangular plan around 1442 on the gentle slope of Castle Hill. The original buildings of the market square were mostly two-story wooden and wooden-brick houses. The fire that took place on May 23, 1884 destroyed most of the buildings in the market square. During the reconstruction, the urban layout of the market square from earlier times was preserved. The compact buildings consisted of brick tenement houses. The most beautiful building on the market square is the town hall, rebuilt after a fire in 1844-45. Moreover, it is charming thanks to the fountain with the figure of Saint. Florian in the corner of the town hall and a fountain with a figure of St. Florian made in 1909. John the Baptist.
