  • Cover photo description:
  • The long bridge at Rättvik, Dalarna County is with its 628 meters probably the longest wooden lake bridge in the world. Built in 1895 its original purpose was to allow the tour boats to dock at the shallow water bay of Lake Siljan outside Rättvik. Even today the tour boats still frequent the bridge. It is also a common site for wedding ceremonies with the beautiful view of the lake and Rättvik church on the right hand side just across the bay water. The bridge was restored in the early 90's with the help of the public who were offered to each buy a wooden plank with the name of the donator inscribed in the plank. This looks particularly beautiful on a frosty morning with the thousands of names rimmed by frost.
