Located in Kalemegdan Fortress, it was created by most famous Yugoslavian sculptor, Ivan Mestrovic (Serbian/Croatian: Ivan MeÅ¡trović) between 1912-1914 to commemorate the Serbian victory in Balkan War, finally liberating the country from 500 years of Ottoman Empire rule. Erected in 1928.
