  • This view of Lake Brienz in the Swiss Alps, is taken from high atop Schynige Platte, a high mountain area at the foot of the Gumihorn located between Gsteigwiler and Gündlischwand in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland. To access this area, one takes Schynige Platte cog railway from Wilderswil near Interlaken. Schynige Platte is also near Wengen, Grindelwald, and Männlichen. Spectacular natural landscape is enjoyed from here, including forests, a wildflower garden, and views Alpine pastures and mountian peakes of the Bernese Oberland. Once at the top, there are splendid views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Schynige Platte also has plenty of Swiss cows that graze the meadows all around. Aside from views of Lake Brienze and Lake Thun, hiking trails can be accessed nearby. One can also enjoy refreshment at the panoramic restaurant or find accommodation in the hotel that sits at the top of Schynige Platte.
