- Cover photo description:
- Sluice Dokkumer New Zijlen a lock in the hamlet Dokkumer New Zijlen for the drainage of the Frisian basins on the Dokkumerdiep, which communicates with the Lauwersmeer. On the lock there is a bridge into the N358. The lock complex was built under the direction of the Frysian engineerer Loré (1679-1744) and consisted of two sluices and a lock for shipping. In honor of the completion of the complex a monument consisting of a pedestal with an obelisk on four balls was erected on the embankment.
