  • The yellow hbiscus (Hibiscus brackenridgei) is endemic to Hawaii where it is rare today in the wild but is cultivated for its showy beauty. It is the state flower of Hawaii, where it grows in the wild on Oahu, Maui, Hawaii Island and Kauai. The large bloosom is tissue-paperlike soft, the center is pink and the long pistil with stamens is yellow. Hibiscus is also the official flowers of a few contries, including Malaysia. The petals make a delicious tea. This hibiscus was photographed in Kailua, Kona on Hawaii Island.
