- The Square of the Rogation, built in 1971, is a small square near the door of San Juan where governing a modern bronze sculpture. Here a bishop with three parishioners marching in a procession that commemorates an event that took place there in 1797 appears History tells us that in the spring of that year, a fleet of British ships commanded by Sir Ralph Ambercrombie entered the bay, preparing to attack the city and take possession of it. When the attack was foiled, they established a naval blockade of the city, hoping to break the spirit of its residents. When residents despaired at not receiving help from soldiers in other towns, the governor ordered a prayer for help of the saints. The women of the city, carrying torches and ringing bells, formed a procession through the streets, which led to the English, to the shock, thinking they had arrived reinforcements so they gave up in their attempt to capture the city and the other morning abandoned the siege.
