  • Cover photo description:
  • We found this horseshoe on an abandoned road Belev - Chern in central Russia near the village of Litvinovo Arsenyevsky district of the Tula region. The horseshoe was found using a metal detector at a depth of about 40 centimeters. The Horseshoe is dated to the 15th - 17th centuries and refers to the period when this part of Russia was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, or to a later period of the Polish-Lithuanian occupation of 1610-1612. Horseshoe in the form of a three-quarter oval with six nail holes. The groove that connects the holes for the horseshoe nails was weakly expressed, the spikes formed by folding the plate. Such horseshoes are typical for Cossack and Polish-Lithuanian troops of the 16th-17th centuries. Here you see a photo that was taken after 2 months of cleaning chemical methods and ultrasound.
