- West Ithaca Creek seldom runs more than a trickle of water. Its source is on top of Mount Coo-tha, above the city of Brisbane, Australia. Most of the water of this small mountain stream, runs underground. The rocks are granite, with pink seams. Much of the watercourse of West Ithaca Creek is worn smooth by much water flowing over a very long time. When there are torrential rains for many days, this watercourse is a spectacular waterfall down off the mountain. Called Simpson's Falls, and associated with a picnic ground, and about five kilometers from Brisbane's CBD.
