- The Infinite Column or the Endless Column is a sculpture by the Romanian artist Constantin Brâncuşi, part of the trilogy of the Monumental Ensemble in Târgu Jiu, Romania, consisting of the Infinite Column, the Gate of Kiss and the Table of Silence designed and executed by him. Inaugurated on October 27, 1938, the column has a height of 29.35 meters and is composed of 16 overlapped octahedron modules, respectively having a lower and upper extremity half a module. Modules were called `beads` by their author. The sculpture is a symbolization of funerary columns specific to the south of Romania. The original name was `The Column of Endless Gratitude`and it was dedicated to the 1916 Romanian soldiers fallen in the fighting on the shores of Jiu river.
