Cover photo info
- Photo title: Skadarsko jezero
- Author: Paveltor
- Cover photo description:
- Millions of years ago Skadar Lake was part of the Adriatic Sea, as evidenced by shells and other archaeological finds in the region. Subsequently, due to tectonic shifts and numerous volcanic eruptions, the sea level decreased, forming the Zeta-Skadar Plain and karst limestone mountains, the so-called Dinar Alps. In 1858, an unprecedented thunderstorm changed the course of the Boyana River, flooding the parched pool and creating the largest lake in the Balkans.
