- Cover photo description:
- Lone Mountain hill is one of San Francisco` famous seven major, and historic hills. In 1854 it was the Lone Mountain Cemetery, and in 1867 the name was changed to Laurel Hill Cemetery, in memory of the one in Philadelphia. Citing health concerns, and the need for more space for the living, the early 20th Century San Francisco voted the removal of all cemeteries from San Francisco. Sacred Heart Academy for Woman was originally founded in Menlo Park, California, in 1898, then moved to San Francisco in the 1930`s. When the name was changed to Lone Mountain College in 1969 it also became coeducational. In 1978 Lone Mountain College was aquired by the University of San Francisco and the name was again changed to the Lone Mountain Campus.
