  • The Rumeli Fortress, also known as the BoÄŸazkesen fortress, is located in the Sarıyer district of the Istanbul province and in the Bosphorus. The Rumeli fortress was built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet directly opposite the Anatolian fortress before the conquest of Istanbul in order to prevent the attacks from the northern part of the strait.
