- Photo title: Traditional Portuguese Straw Cape, Gaia, Portugal.
- Author: Stuartan
- Cover photo description:
- A traditional Portuguese coroca - straw cape, on show in Taylor`s Port House visitors centre in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. The cape is worn by shepherds and other outdoor workers during wet weather in mountainous areas such as Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. The cape is made from straw or rushes and is in two parts which are sown together. The cape then acts like a thatched roof, the water runs off.
