  • Declared a Natural Park in 1985 to protect said gea, fauna and flora and at the same time facilitate the contact of men with nature. It is a deep limestone canyon formed by an ancient and intense erosion of the Lobos River, covering more than 25 km. of the Province of Soria and Burgos. GEA: The most spectacular formation is the Canyon itself, fruit of the double erosive action, of wear. The rest of the calcareous set has been eroded forming a Karst that on the surface shows some torca, abundant caves, chasms and drains; while in depth it is an example of aquifer and groundwater functioning. FAUNA: Given that the cliff is the characteristic landscape of the Park, the most representative is the Leonado vulture. However, there are other species, such as the golden eagle, osprey, short-toed eagle, peregrine falcon, hawk, kite, buzzard, kestrel, species of rivers and streams such as mallard, kingfisher, etc. as for diurnal raptors. Of the nocturnal ones they emphasize: The owl real, small owl, owl, tawny owl, etc. The most frequent mammals are roe deer, wild boar, rabbit, squirrel, hare, fox, marten and weasel. The representation in terms of amphibians and reptiles can be headed by the existing viper species, followed by an endless number of species of water snakes, lizards, lizards and frogs. FLORA: The diversity of the different strata of the Canyon has given rise to intrinsic floral associations
