- Cover photo description:
- Emmaus Nicopolis Emmaus Nicopolis was an ancient Roman-Byzantine city located on the Latrun Ridge, on the eastern fringes of the Ayalon Valley. The city was established in the 3rd century in a place called `Hamat`, and the Greeks or Samaritans disrupted the name and called the place Emmaus. The city was destroyed with the Arab conquest of the Land of Israel. The city is also known for its Christian tradition, which identifies it as one of the places where Jesus was revealed to two of his disciples after he was resurrected.
