Built by Augustus it includes the Temple of Mars Ultor and the fireproof wall.nOn the eve of the Battle of the Philippi, fought in October of the year 42 B.C. against Brutus and Cassius to avenge the murder of Julius Caesar, the young Gaius Octavius, the future emperor Augustus, made a solemn vow that – if victorious – he would build a temple to Mars Ultor from the Latin Ultor = the Avenger.
