  • Famous for morning sunrise. It is the longest natural beach of the India on Bay of Bengal. The beach runs from near Fort St. George in the north to Foreshore Estate in the south. The Marina is primarily sandy having average width of the beach is 300 m 980 ft to 437 m 1,434 ft. It is one of the most crowded beaches in the country and attracts about 30,000 visitors a day during weekdays and 50,000 visitors a day during the weekends and on holidays. During summer months, about 15,000 to 20,000 people visit the beach daily. Notable landmarks near the beach are Lighthouse, Anna Memorial, MGR Memorial, Jayalalithaa Memorial, Kalaignar Memorial, Napier Bridge. Located on the banks of the Vegavathy river, Kanchipuram ruled by the Pallavas, the Medieval Cholas and the Later Pandyas. The British called the city `Conjeeveram`. The Kailasanathar Temple and the Vaikunta Perumal Temple. Kanchipuram was known as the ghatikasthanam, or `place of learning`. The city was also a religious centre of advanced education for Jainism and Buddhism and Vaishnavism. Kanchipuram is one of the seven Tirtha pilgrimage. The city houses Varadharaja Perumal Temple, Ekambareswarar Temple, Kamakshi Amman Temple, and Kumarakottam Temple. Of the 108 holy temples of the Hindu god Vishnu, 15 are located in Kanchipuram. The city is well known for its hand woven silk sarees and most of the city`s workforce is involved in the weaving industry.
