He is the heir to the `simple style`, includes some elements of classicism and details in the Rocco style. The Marquis of Pombal imposed strict conditions on the restoration of the city. The architectural models of the buildings were tested by troops marching around them, which created the effect of an earthquake, making the pombalo one of the first earthquake-resistant architectural structures. The shopping area, Augusta Street and Avenida da Liberdade are the most famous monuments in this style. The trading area received a regular, symmetrical shape in the spirit of the newly rebuilt Baisha district.
