- Photo title: Imperia Statue
- Author: Jdanne
- Cover photo description:
- Imperia statue at the entrance of Constance harbor, Baden-Wuerttenberg, South-Germany. The statue is nine meter high and weighs 18 tones. It was created by sculptor Peter Lenz in 1993. It satirically commemorates the Council of Constance which took place between 1414 and 1418. In her hands are the emperor and the pope, both naked except for their symbols of power: crown, papa tiara and the emperor’s globus cruciger. Imperia herself represents a prostitute. It was erected against the explicit will of the church. The status is a major tourist attraction at the Lake Constance.
