- Cover photo description:
- Belchite is a town in the province of Zaragoza (Spain), located 49 km from the capital. It has a population of 1,692 inhabitants and 273.58 km ². Is known to have been the scene of one of the symbolic battles of the Spanish Civil War, the Battle of Belchite. As a result of the fighting, the village was completely destroyed. Instead of rebuilding, the regime of Francisco Franco decided to create a new town next door (now known as Belchite Nuevo), leaving intact the ruins of the former as a reminder of the civil war. The ensemble, now abandoned and partially closed to foot traffic, is known as Pueblo Viejo de Belchite.
