- Cover photo description:
- James L. Flood, like his father before him, James C. Flood, was very wealthy from silver mining. James L. also liked beautiful things. James L. and his wife Maria, were living at 1890 Page Street San Francisco, childless, when Eudora Forde came to live with them when she was pregnant. On 11 May 1893 Eudora gave birth to her daughter, Constans Marguerite Stern, with the father listed as Victor Stern, who had been engaged to, but disappeared. In later years, Eudora would claim that James was the father. After both James and Eudora had died, Constans would take flood estate to court to try and claim her share, which has become a very famous case. Too bad there were no patrimony testing at the time. The Flood home on Page Street as seen 25 July 2022.
