  • Cover photo description:
  • Daniel Gibb had two adjacent warehouses on Front Street in San Francisco during the Gold Rush area. The fact they are both made of brick, and on landfill, makes it all the more surprising they survived the earthquake of 1906. Two of the only ones that did survive. This one on Front Street was built in 1855 as a warehouse, mainly for seeds, beens and wine. Since housing was hard to come by at the time, Daniel rented a couple of rooms on one of the ships that was docked and abandoned by the gold rush. Considered a very trustworthy businessman, Daniel prospered very well and returned to his native Glasgow Scotland with the intend of returning back to San Francisco, having died in 1861. As seen 24 April 2024.
