- Photo title: Migrating flying cranes near Bisdorf, Germany
- Author: 2circles
- Cover photo description:
- Cranes are a clade (Gruidae) of large, long-legged and long-necked birds in the group Gruiformes. The Western flyway (migration route) for the continental cranes takes them in the autumn from their breeding areas in Scandanavia and Eastern Europe in a south-westerly direction through Germany, France and finally to Spain. In october they sleep a couple of weeks in the lagoon near Bisdorf and in the early morning they fly loud crying to the corn fields for foraging.
